Drop Zone Commander Scourge test peices

Well after quite a bit of indecisiveness I decided to take the plunge and pick up some scourge for drop zone after my initial game with Lee the other month,

I was lucky enough to get some on auction as the same seller had them going for 10% discount which is the norm if you look at wayland and the like.

I couldn't decide how to paint the bad man alien invaders so I showed Nadine (the better half) a page full of painted scourge models in the rule book and She pointed at the one that looked "nice" or in her words "that looks like a beetle that's good"

So after a bit of messing about I did these as trial pieces...

So 2 APC's can carry three stands of guys and that's ya lot!  The allocated drop ship is still WIP....

Two fast mover interceptors, no idea rules wise if these are any good, but I liked the look of them so painted these as well,

for those interested in the "recipe"

Spray black
Heavy dry brush Necron Compound
wash with Carroburg Crimson
Airbrush the lines with model air azul blue
really light dry brush of necron compound
Brassy brass highlighted then washed with ogran flesh for the "brassy bits"
Blood red & a bit of orange for the sensors and gloss varnish for the Len's look

Over all the bit that I'm chuffed with is the airbrush bit, apart from the king tiger I did for the demo table last month this was my first real solo flight with out Coop's giving me tips,

I've still quite a lot to learn with regards to the mixture and the PSI pressure but a 2:1 mix and 15/20 PSI seems to work quite well so far,

Once all the scourge are sorted then I'm more than likely gonna be packing up all me gaming stuff ready for a house move in the next 4ish weeks so blog updates will be sparse and the pledge is in a rather healthy state but the purchase of more models is going to be slim as I'll be spending my dough on boring real life stuff!

Operation Charnwood at the Derby show!

We Came, We Saw, We played for 2 days solid!!

So 6ish weeks worth of hardcore painting/dry brushing came to a end and this was the result of the hard graft from the Phat Cats demo team....

at the end of the two days the allies won on moral chits, 57 to 100, with the germans only being 25 off there break point!

man of the match for me has to be the FAO who single handelily slow the rush of paras on the right flank supressing them over and over again!

KGN the eve of battle....

So we managed to achieve the goal of producing a demo board for Derby for this coming weekend...

and boy I'm impressed!!

between the 3 of us we've made this lot in about 6 weeks, so next years show should be a doddle!!

loads more pics on Coopers blog...  themountainofmetal.blogspot.co.uk

but the final models are now completed and the hunting pack is ready to roll!!

I'll be taking a fine brush and some white paint for the kill rings that these pair will rack up between em!

If your coming to the Derby show we're at stand B2 pop over and have a gander!
